Hi Josh,
Great question. Some of these hikes can be extended to longer hikes if you're interested. Sweetwater Creek and Kennesaw Mountain both can be 12 miles if you want. Also, if you're interested in the Appalachian Trail at all, a bit north of Atlanta is one of the starting points at Springer Mountain. You can take that for as long as you'd like.

All of these hikes are pretty short. Do you have any suggestions for any hikes about 7-12 miles round trip near ATL?

I am looking to do some solo hikes (well, me and my pup!) but I want to feel safe. Any opinion on the solo-gal-safety of the following: Stone Mountain Loop (not the mountaintop trail), Cheatham Hill Trail, Pickett's Mill Trail and/or the Kolb's Farm Loop. I'm thinking of going during the week and I'm just not sure about the amount of traffic and the "denseness" of any forrested areas. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!
