Girls’ Weekend Guide to Nashville

When you think of southern cities for a fun weekend trip, I hope Nashville comes to mind. With a great restaurant scene and nightlife, southern charm, and music venues on every corner, there is something for everyone. Even though I lived only 4 hours away, I have only visited Nashville once, for a friend’s 30th birthday celebration. I know, what was I thinking?! Below is my girls’ weekend guide to Nashville.

Although we visited in early April, it was unseasonably cold. So cold that we even had snow flurries our first full day in Nashville. Just goes to show you that weather in the south is nuts! Despite the weather, we still had a blast.

Day 1

Biscuit Love and Country Music Hall of Fame

Our first official day was Saturday, and we started off on a high note at Biscuit Love. This is an extremely popular, and with good reason, breakfast place in Nashville with some of the best biscuits I’ve ever had. Tip: Try to go here on a weekday, as the line is long. When we went, we had to stand outside in freezing temperatures for about an hour before we could get a seat. My favorite item on the menu was the Bonuts starter. Who doesn’t like fried biscuit dough with lemon marscapone and blueberry compote? (If you don’t, I’m not sure we can be friends).

After breakfast, we headed to the Country Music Hall of Fame. I am not a country music fan, but my friends are, and since it was flurrying, I was happy to be inside. I was pleasantly surprised. They had an exhibit on Shania Twain, which was very interesting. It was also fun to see all the inductee plaques, including Alan Jackson, who is one of the few country singers I do like.

12 South Neighborhood

After lunch, we decided to head to the 12 South neighborhood, which is home of hip restaurants, boutiques like Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James, and some Instagram-worthy murals. We ended the day here by shopping, taking a coffee break, and checking out the great street art.

Day 2

Mimosas and the Parthenon

For our second and last day, we thought we’d check out Nashville’s replica of the Parthenon. Before checking out the Parthenon, we ate brunch at City Fire. This place not only had bottomless mimosas, but the best breakfast skillet I’v ever eaten. Hands down.

Our next stop was the Parthenon, and I’ll admit, we arrived here pretty tipsy from the mimosas. Maybe because of our slightly inebriated state, we had a blast. It’s an odd attraction, especially with the 42 foot statue of Athena inside. But we had so much fun trying to behave while still enjoying the exhibits and columns on the outside.

The Parthenon is located in Centennial Park, which has other monuments and historical markers, greenspace, and a lake with walking trails. After we sobered up a bit, we walked around the lake and enjoyed the company before heading home.

Overall, we had a great few days in Nashville, even with the extreme cold. I hope you enjoyed this itinerary for a girls’ trip to Nashville, and I’d love to hear about your favorite spots in the city, so leave me a comment.
